We have a major announcement to make- and we couldn’t be more excited to let you all in on the news!
As of April 2018, North Hills Family Medicine is proud to announce that we are now accepting Medicare. So, what does this mean for you? Here’s a quick brush-up on the information you need to know:
Created back in 1965, Medicare is for people 65 years of age and older- and does NOT discriminate against income, medical history or current health status. In 1972, the government expanded the program to include those under the age of 65 suffering from permanent disabilities. Additionally, Medicare covers those with permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant.
While most Medicare patients tend to live with cognitive, mental or chronic conditions- or claim a lower income status- Medicare is open to anyone within the age parameters or specific diseases to help with their health insurance needs.
What It Covers
Medicare assists patients in paying for hospitalizations, doctor visits, prescription drugs, skilled nursing care facilities, home health care, hospice care, and even preventive services.
While it does cover quite a number of situations, Medicare is known for having a high deductible, which prompts some beneficiaries to seek supplemental coverage with options through employers, Medicaid and other gap policies.
Medicare is broken up into 4 parts: A (Hospital Coverage), B (Medical Services/ Insurance), C (A private health plan combining A and B) and D (Prescription Drug Coverage). To learn more about each covers, you can click here.
